Location: Lake Winnebago, Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Guide: Captain Matt Merten [920-410-2206]

There is an exciting new bite happening on Lake Winnebago, and you may be missing out.  Eelpout, burbot, or half a dozen other names were not considered keeping up until somewhat recently.  Now people are targeting them because they are great to eat, but our guide Matt Merten says you should still put the females back.  We’re on Lake Winnebago, targeting them through the ice, because they spawn in the winter, and they can be caught in very shallow water.

Back on Open Water

Show Date: March 19th, 2022

Location: Lake Michigan, Oak Creek, Wisconsin

We’re very excited to get back on open water, and as long as the landings aren’t frozen, Lake Michigan is a great place to get out and fish this time of year.

We head to where the warm water is coming out of the Oak Creek power plant, and throw Jerk Minnows, and Kastmasters into the warm current.  The baitfish school in the warm water this time of year, which means the gamefish are here feeding.  The strong current flowing out of the chute gives our lures all the action, and the fish can’t get enough!

Episode 13

Fishing in Florida

Show Date: March 26th, 2022

Location: Headwaters Lake, Vero Beach, Florida

We’re down in Florida to enjoy a little rest and relaxation, but of course we’re going to do some fishing.  Pete Maina joins us as Sam Root from Savage Gear takes us out on the hottest lake that the state has seen in a long time.

Headwaters lake is a man-made reservoir, and was only accessible with a non-motorized boat until August of 2020, when a boat ramp was opened for motorized boats.  1 million bass fingerlings were stocked into this 10,000 acre lake, so there are plenty of fish, and lots of water to fish.

Day two we head out onto saltwater with Capt. Honson Lau to sightfish inshore flats.
