Door County Walleyes

Door County Wisconsin is one of our favorite places to fish, and one of the main reasons is Dale Stroschine, who has been putting us on fish for almost 30 years.  Dale grew up on these waters, and over the years his passion for fishing, and determination to find fish, has never wavered.  We’ve been coming up every spring to target jumbo walleyes, and it’s always been an adventure.  This year, as most years are, it was about quality, not quantity.  Using hair jigs, or soft plastics were the key to success during our trip, but each day is different.  Dale always urges anglers to try what they have the most confidence in, and then switch to something else if a pattern emerges.  

It was great to be back on the walleyes in Door County, and we can’t wait to head back for bass in the near future.

Episode 20

Spring Bass on Geneva

Show Date: May 13, 2023

Location: Geneva Lake, Lake Geneva Wisconsin

This week we’re on Geneva Lake looking for bass.  We’re out with Matt Bichanich, and bass are his favorite species to target.  Geneva is the second deepest lake in Wisconsin, and this time of year the bass will move shallow to find warmer water.  Casting a lure like a Kalin’s Tickle Tail, and straight retrieving, is a good way to search for fish, and develop a pattern for the day.

Spring Fishing with Pete & Tex

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin

One of our favorite traditions is heading up to Hayward Wisconsin to get out on the water for a fun day of angling with Pete Maina, and his Dad “Tex”.  We’ve been coming up here for 30 years, and we love that there’s lots of different species to target.  This year we’re on spots that have mostly walleye and pike. Pete is throwing a Livingston Jerkmaster, John is using a Kalin’s Jerk Minnow, and Tex (as usual) is using live minnows.

Episode 22

Pontoon River Fishing

Location: Wisconsin River, Stevens Point, Wisconsin

We’re on a very unique trip on the Wisconsin River with Matt from Taps and Tackle Co. Matt has a pontoon boat that is rigged for any fishing scenario.  This boat can also accommodate someone who is in a wheelchair.  The great thing about fishing this river is that you never know what’s on the end of your line.  We catch primarily walleye and pike, but there are bass, crappie, pike, and muskie swimming these waters all together.
