Northwoods Family Vacation

There’s nothing quite like heading to the Wisconsin north woods for a family getaway.  Getting together with Family can be difficult with everyone’s busy lives, but each year we get together to have a good time and relax, and of course fish.  

As is years past, we have a rotating cast of family members coming aboard the boat to try their luck on the lake.  

The family keeps growing each year, and each year together is special.  Showing the little ones the excitement with panfish, and as they get older, they want to go out to target gamefish.  


Episode 33

Bass in a Downpour

Show Date: August 14th, 2021

Location: Oconomowoc Lake, Waukesha County, Wisconsin

What was supposed to be a fun and relaxing day out on the lake for the winning bidder of a trip with us, ended up being an all day soaker; but we stuck with it, and ended up having a pretty good day.  

Mike Hering was the winning bidder of a trip we donated to the St. Joe's Cancer Center, and we have to applaud him for sticking with it during the extremely uncomfortable periods of the day.  

Our target was bass, and we caught quite a few, especially when Matt Bichanich got us on fish using a drop-shot.  A great reward for our struggles, was the fish starting to bite as soon as the rain stopped, which really made the day worth it. 

Thanks again to Mike and his wife for their winning bid, we had a great time despite the conditions.

Episode 34

Jumbo Bay Perch

This week we’re excited to get back on the water with captain Brett Jolly, because he says the perch population is finally coming back. We tried a bunch of different presentations, but we found that the slip-bobber with half of a nightcrawler was the most effective. We fished rock humps, and found walleye and bass mixed in with these massive perch. We had  an absolute blast on the water, and hope anglers take care of this fishery, so many more people can enjoy this for years to come.

Back to Canada!

We’re finally able to get back into Canada to enjoy the great fishing we’ve enjoyed over the many years of traveling to Ontario.  It’s been a rough run for all of the resorts and lodges that rely on sportsmen & women to come each year to fish and enjoy beautiful Sunset Country. 

We’re on Eagle Lake, fishing out of Andy Myers Lodge, and are so excited to see friendly faces welcome us back.  As usual, the fishing is fantastic.  There are a myriad of gamefish species to target like trout, bass, walleye, muskie and pike - so any angler will find something that they enjoy.  During our trip we caught walleye, pike, and muskie; all guided by our longtime friend and guide Danny Herbeck. 

We had a blast, and cannot wait to get back in the fall!
