Wisconsin River Crappies

Show Date: September 7th & 8th, 2019

Location: Wisconsin River - Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

Guide:  Pro Guide Big Dave Ehardt [414-803-7160]

Accommodations: Rivers Edge Resort [608-254-6494]

This week we’re excited to get back on the water with one of our dearest friends, Big Dave Ehardt. Big Dave, as he’s known, hasn’t been guiding as much as he’d like due to some health issues.  He’s been feeling better lately, and invited us out to shoot a show, and explain that he’s starting to guide again. We’re obviously thrilled at this news, but also excited to get back out on the river, because you can catch just about anything in the stretch that Dave has been fishing for many years. We’ve been fishing with Dave since 1992, and we know that he knows where to find fish.

We try a bunch of different presentations, trying for different species, but end up settling on a pod of giant crappies!  The crappies were a complete blast, but along the way we also caught, walleye, sauger, white bass, northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass.  It’s a perfect way to show the versatility of the river, and the fun that can be had.

Episode 37

Late Summer on Chequamegon Bay

Show Date: September 14th & 15th, 2019

Location: Ashland, Wisconsin

Guide: Josh Teigen [715-813-0575  | joshteigen.com ]

What a fun trip with Josh to Ashland to fish Chequamegon Bay! We set out targeting walleyes, but the Bay is so versatile we caught big smallmouth bass and pike too.  Using a Jerk Minnow or a Kastmaster is the way to go for us, each of these lures catches everything throughout the day.

Episode 38

Chinook in the Harbors

Show Date: September 21st & 22nd, 2019

Location: The Port Washington Harbor, Wisconsin

Guide: Captain Caleb Zorn [Wacky Walleye Guide Service - 920-743-5731 | wackywalleye.com]

Captain Caleb Zorn says fall is the time to catch a big King in and around the harbors of Lake Michigan. Caleb says that the fish are biting in the harbors of Racine all the way to Gills Rock, and many harbors in between.  The way these fish fight is unbelievable, they are so strong, and can make us move the boat to chase them.

What we are using, which it typical this time of year, is King Salmon eggs that are cured and used on a bobber rig.  These fish aren’t biting because they are hungry, they are biting out of instinct to kill other fishes eggs, so theirs survive.

Episode 39

Leech Lake Muskies

Show Date: September 28th & 29th, 2019

Location: Leech Lake, Minnesota

Accommodations: Sugar Point Resort [https://sugarpoint.com/]

It started to feel like fall during our recent trip to Leech Lake.  High winds, rain, and storms rolling in, which makes it ideal muskie weather.  We’ve had some amazing muskie adventures on this lake, and almost always along for the ride is our good friends Rusty Lilyquist & Pete Maina.  They’re both muskie nuts, and know where to go and what lures to throw. This time of year is a great time to workout everyone of your lures, the water is even still warm enough for surface lures.  It’s a fun time to be a muskie fisherman!
