The Only Come Out at Night

For this weeks show, we dedicated 2 1/2 days of shooting to make sure we had the best chance to catch a slob-o muskie on Leech Lake. Putting in the hours was worth it, but it boiled down to only about one hour of action. The fish of 10,000 casts….
Out with friends Rusty Lilyquist and Pete Maina this week, we’re attacking all the fall spots, rocks, rushes, and weeds. This lake is 112,000 acres, with over 700 miles of shoreline, so there are a lot of spots.

Wind and Rain in Door County

This week we’ve got some very special guests joining us on the water in Door County!
In the boat with us on this trip are winners of a contest we ran earlier this year that was held by Johnsonville, Sendik’s Food Markets, and Festival Foods. Huge thanks to them for sponsoring this trip, and giving these 2 great couples a day on the water with us.
Our two winners were Sheryl Bulgrin and Cody Maeder and they both brought their spouses to join them during their respective days on the water.
Our guide, Dale Stroschein, can catch fish in just about any scenario. This talent was put on full display during our first day on the water, when we have a driving rain all day coupled with lots of wind and big waves. We set up for bass, and find success, catching a few beautiful 5 lb. plus sized fish. Hats off to Pat and Sheryl for being so tough out there, it was a challenge feeling the bite, but ended up having a stellar day given the conditions.
On our second day, the rain moves out, but the wind doesn’t. Cody and Beth have done a lot of fishing, and their skills get put to the test with the wacky wind, current, and waves that are all coming from different directions. We find walleye mixed in with the smallmouth, which was an awesome surprise.
We had a blast with our winners, and thank them and Dale for sticking it out.

Up fishing the U.P.

Location: Baraga Michigan area
We’re taking a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with Matt Bichanich and his boss Kurt Kellogg of Uncle Josh Bait Company. Matt tells us that this time of year he’s attacking the weeds. This time of year everything is moving into the weeds, starting with the baitfish. The gamefish follow, and thats where we look for fish. A fun thing is that you can use just about any lure you want, from Rattletraps, spoons, plastics, ect.
It’s a beautiful area of the state, especially in the fall. The fish are biting, and we had a great time!

Fall in the Wisconsin Dells

October is a great time to fishing the river in the Wisconsin Dells. There is such a variety of fish to catch, because all species are eating ferociously to bulk up for the winter.
We join our resident river expert, Big Dave, and his nephew Curt; who Dave has been teaching and prepping him to guide for a very long time. Curt is now doing trips on the river in order to give dave a rest once in a while.
We target revering from crappie to bass during the day, and jumbo walleye after dark. There are a lot of different fish that bite, even though we didn’t specifically target them.

Fall Muskies in Vilas County
