Episode 22

Wind and Storms

This week took us on a bit of a rollercoaster. 

First we headed to Sand Bay Beach Resort to plan our fishing trip with Capt. Dale Stroschein, and due to intense storms, and very high winds; our trip was cut short.  We didn’t get a good chance at any of the spots that usually hold fish, so we’re going to get back up that way in the near future. 

The next day we headed to a lake closer to home in Washington County, and the weather was much improved, but the big storms that had just blown through seemed to have slowed the bit considerably, so we had to weed through a bunch of small fish. 

Not every day on the water is going to be a banner fishing day, but we’re always making memories irregardless.

We’re very excited to welcome aboard the grand prize winners of the Fleet Farm John Gillespie’s Fishing Getaway Giveaway! Gene, and his buddy Glenn join us with Captain Josh Teigen out on Chequamegon Bay looking for bass, and maybe a few walleyes for a fish fry. 


Josh put us on fish, and we all had a fantastic time out on the water. Thanks so much to Gene and Glenn for joining us!

Taking My Grandson Fishing

This week, I'm taking my grandson Jack on his first overnight fishing trip, and we’re headed north to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We’re heading to a lake I’ve fished before, and I’ve caught walleye, bass, and northern pike.

Summer Pattern Walleyes

This week we’re back in Vilas County with guide Rob Manthei, and a fellow guide Will Buhler. We’re going to learn about how to find and target walleyes as they transition into their summer patterns. The best place to look is along weed edges, and using the Humminbird Mega Live is a great way to find schools of fish to throw a lure at.

Madison Chain Bluegills

It’s been a while since we’ve been to the Madison Chain, and guide Justin Neu is an expert bluegill guide. We have a warm and humid day, and the weeds are where the fish go to hide and get some shade.  We’re using a drop-shot rig using a redworm, and catch fish at will for as long as we want to.
